setup.sh
Requires a Debian base install with no GNOME or desktop environment. Then installs a thin GNOME desktop by default, or --dev / --dev-all toolchains. Never starts GDM.
protonvpncli.sh
After GNOME login, checksums Proton’s extra-repo .deb, installs official proton-vpn-cli, and enables a user oneshot. Does not run protonvpn — sign-in is the desktop user, no sudo. Not the GNOME GUI.
